Why Do Millennials Like Working With Real Estate Professionals?

Though Millennials are characterized by conducting the majority of their lives online and through chatrooms today, that’s not necessarily the case when it comes to real estate dealings. In a recent survey by CentSai, the financial wellness firm found that 75% of millennials want the help of a local real estate agent over an online agent. Furthermore, 71% stated they would prefer to work with a local mortgage lender. They cited a desire for face-to-face collaboration, associating it with greater local knowledge, personal touch, and longstanding relationships that they can use again in the future.

According to Inman.com, 90% of millennial homebuyers use an agent today, making them the largest generation to rely on realtors in the world right now.

Why?

There’s a multifaceted answer to why the technology generation is relying on living, breathing humans for helping them select the right home today. Don’t be mistaken, millennials are checking website forums, social media profiles, real estate mobile apps, and review platforms today before they hire agents and begin the home buying process. However, once they’ve done all of that, millennials are wise enough to realize that there are some things that can’t be replicated by technology – yet.

One of those things is the personal touch of a real estate agent, equipped with invaluable decades of community experience and knowledge to know about forthcoming trends and developments. Since millennials put in so much time and research, they’re aware of what they don’t know. The one person who can provide them with this knowledge is a real estate agent.

Additionally, millennials are very particular about what they want in their homes. They’re saddled with debt, yet millennials want to make their dollar stretch. They know they need an expert to show them the very best deals with what they can truly afford. Plus, since they are so picky about what they want to see in a house, they find it easier to list off their preferences to an agent who will be able to navigate the local market better than an app can (for now).

What do millennials value most in their real estate agents?

- Trustworthiness

- Honesty

- Patience

- Attention to detail

- Thoroughness

As articles are putting it today, millennials are trusting of realtors, but warn that they don’t want to be taken advantage of. Able to leverage the power of online profiles, they have no problem smearing an agent or company with negative reviews on over a dozen sites today.

So take millennial homebuyers seriously. They love using agents and want to continue using them in the future.
